One of the key moments in World War Two was the stunning victory in the skies over South East England in 1940 for the RAF and it's allies over the German Luftwaffe. The Germans saw domination in the air as a key pre-cursor to any potential land invasion of Great Britain and as such Hitler had ordered Herman Goering to take out the RAF at the earliest opportunity.
