Cleopatra - Quick facts

Her full name was Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator.

She was born in 69 BC daughter of Ptolemy XII and Cleopatra V of Egypt.

She died in 30 BC (just 39 years old) when she supposedly committed suicide with an Asp (Egyptian Cobra snake).

She was the last Queen and last Pharoah of Egypt.

She had 4 children (1 of them to Julius Caesar and 1 to Mark Antony).

Contrary to popular belief Cleopatra was not very beautiful, coins dating back to this time suggest she had a hooked nose and masculine features.

Cleopatra was not an Egyptian. She was a Macedonian Greek who descended from Ptolemy I, a Greek general of Alexander the Great. Ptolemy I became the king of Egypt following the death of Alexander.

She could reputedly speak 9 languages fluently.
