Football is believed to have originated
way back around the 2nd Century B.C in China. The Romans were also known
to have played ball games using their feet, a fact which is believed to
have influenced the medieval English version of Football. Indeed the
first documented written account of a Football Match in England was
recorded by William Fitzstephen in 1170.
In it's modern form, Football was undoubtedly invented in England where the world's first Football League was set up in 1888. The world's first and to this day premier domestic cup competition was first competed for in 1872 when Royal Engineers were defeated 1-0 by the Wanderers at the Kennington Oval in the first F.A.Cup Final. Sheffield F.C are the world's oldest Football Club whilst Notts County are the world's oldest League Club.

White Horse Cup Final - The
first ever FA Cup final at Wembley saw a huge crowd suspected to be
around 200,000 people crammed inside the newly built Wembley Stadium in
1923. The final became known as the 'White Horse' final after the police
horse which tried in vain to control the vast crowd.
